FAQ
Attivazione kit
Ricordati, oltre ad attivare il kit online, di compilare il form cartaceo per fornire al laboratorio tutte le informazioni sul tuo pet e di inviarlo insieme al campione!
What does it mean that the test is approved by veterinarians?
When we say “vet approved”, we mean that these are types of laboratory tests widely approved by the veterinary profession as the best diagnostic medicine.
Lab4Pets brings this consolidated screening method directly to your home, adopting the same techniques used by specialists in the sector.
How accurate is the stool test?
The accuracy of fecal tests is
important, which is why Lab4Pets uses only the highest quality validated equipment and processes, making use of certified and accredited analysis laboratories.
Our routine screening
of feces uses molecular PCR technology (DNA or RNA), effective in revealing the presence of pathogens that cause gastrointestinal diseases (bacteria, protozoa).
When to test stool?
Veterinarians recommend testing even stools that appear normal at periodic intervals: puppies and kittens 2 to 4 times in the first year of life, adult dogs and cats every 6-12 months.
These tests can be used to recheck stool samples following treatment prescribed by your veterinarian to eliminate an intestinal parasite (typically 2-4 weeks after treatment).
When to withdraw
We recommend taking the sample from Sunday to Thursday, and sending the sample on the same day of collection or immediately the following day.
Where to store the sample
If you collect the sample in the evening, place it in the refrigerator overnight and ship the day after collection.
Important indications for the microbiome
- Sampling must be done on freshly made feces (the microbiome varies if the feces are left there) .
- The test tube contains a liquid and care must be taken not to overturn it during collection so as not to disperse the preservative liquid.
- After having immersed the swab in the feces , it must be rotated on itself for a few seconds. The swab must then be inserted into the test tube.
- In the case of very liquid stools : recommend repeating the stool sample collection operation with the swab 2/3 times .
